Slate

Slate is a metamorphic rock, like marble, however instead of forming from pre existing limestone it is formed with the low-grade metamorphism of the sedimentary rock shale. Like shale, it is a very fine-grained rock comprised mostly of microscopic clay minerals, with traces of quartz and calcite. It is a popular choice for interior and exterior finishes though majority of slates are greyish, greenish and black in colour. Other slates come in multicolour shades adding a touch of Eastern appearance to an interior.
